Lokidi: A Passion Project for Rotorua Families
Hey, my name is Harriet, a busy mother of three young children residing in Rotorua. Driven by a personal need and a desire to empower families, I launched Lokidi in 2023 after many late nights, over a nine-month development period.
While I co-manage a business alongside my husband in the forestry industry, Lokidi serves as my passion project, fulfilling a critical need in our community.
As a parent juggling running a business and childcare, I consistently faced the challenge of finding suitable activities and relevant services for my young family. This difficulty persisted as my children grew older.
Several years ago, with three children aged 4, 2, and newborn, I embarked on a quest to find a fun family outing. Researching online became an ordeal – by the time I unearthed relevant information, the baby needed feeding and the toddlers were demanding snacks. The sheer volume of information scattered across websites and social media made it a time-consuming and frustrating process. It became abundantly clear that there had to be a better way.
Years passed, and the need for a centralized resource for families remained. Lokidi emerged from this realization in 2023, a platform dedicated to connecting families and caregivers with the information they desperately need. Lokidi serves as a local directory, encompassing everything "kids" in Rotorua, from under 5s activities, family support services, to music lessons and beyond.
Lokidi represents not just a website, but a passion project driven by the desire to simplify and enrich the lives of local families.
My vision for Lokidi extends beyond Rotorua. We're building a nationwide network for Kiwi families, and your support will help us get there!
